WASHINGTON, D.C. Mortgage Applications Increase In Latest MBA Weekly Survey

 The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) released its Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending October 24, 2008.  The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, was 476.7, an increase of 16.8 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from 408.1 one week earlier.  On an unadjusted basis, the Index increased 29.6 percent compared with the previous week and was down 30.0 percent compared with the same week one year earlier. This week’s results include an adjustment to account for the Columbus Day holiday.
